These words were spoken by the industrial designer and Youtuber, John Mauriello, back on May 26th, 2026. This was in response to the launch of the Luce, Ferrari's first electric car, the day before. It was designed by Apple's former Chief Design Officer, Jony Ive, and his studio, LoveFrom.
Mauriello's issue with the Luce is that Ive viewed it as a utilitarian design problem to solve and not an sexy machine on wheels that makes your heart race.
I agree 100% with Mauriello.
The Luce is a thoughtfully designed electric transportation machine, but it ain't a Ferrari.
